Karthika Mahotsavam

Karthika Masam is one of the major spiritual celebrations in the year for all Sanatana Dharma anuyayees. One distinguishing feature of this auspicious month is that it is dear to both Lord Siva and Lord Vishnu. Puranas talk a lot about this holy month in various instances. Lord Vishnu, in Padma Purana says that of all the months in the year, Karthikam is very dear to him. Siva Purana states that performing abhishekam to Lord Siva in this month can erase lifetimes’ worth of bad karma. All the Puranas instruct us to do Japa, Homa, Archana, Tapas etc with set Niyamas such as fasting to invoke the benevolence of Parameswara.

Adhering to these rules set by the Vaidika parampara, KC Das Trust, under the Guidance of Pujya Guru Dampathi has been celebrating Karthika Masa Mahotsavam for Loka Kshemam every year for the past 24 years with utmost devotion. All throughout the month Nitya Rudrabhiskekham and Shodasopachara pooja is performed to Lord Siva while chanting Sri Rudram, Pancha Sooktams and Astottaranama with great sincerity and devotion by Guru Dampathi and KCDT members.

Following the same practice, this year also, Karthika Mahotsavam is being held for the entire month at Gurunivas. It is a golden opportunity for all of us to participate in nitya sivabhishekam and sivaarchana in this holy Karthika masam along with our guruvugaru, and garner the blessings of both Lord Siva and Pujya Guru Dampathi.
